Information System Security Officer (ISSO)
Total Systems Technologies Corporation is seeking mid-level to senior information system security officers (ISSO) with a minimum of four years (mid level) and eight years (senior) relevant experience. Experience includes providing system and network security engineering support, system and network architecture, IT, communications, and/or Network communication support, such as: network administration, system administration, programming, applications support, computer operations, customer support and equipment support. Minimum of two years experience providing network and/or system administration, and/or computer operations is required. At least two (2) full years of recent experience performing NIST SP 800-30 / NIST SP 800-39 risk assessments and applying NIST SP 800-53 security controls is also required. Experience with FISMA, FIPS, and OMB circulars A-123, A-127, and A-130 is highly desirable. Selected candidates will perform daily security management and administration of secure automated information systems/networks. They will communicate and coordinate with high profile government clients for system accreditations and other IT Security issues. Selected candidates will verify compliance with established security procedures and standards, identify and document vulnerabilities, and make recommendations on mitigating actions in conformance with Agency, NIST, OMB, and other guidelines. Candidates will also assist clients with making decisions concerning information assurance requirements and security management including incident reporting, and training and awareness. Required Skills: We are looking for candidates with strong analytical and organizational skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate should be capable of working independently as well as part of a larger group under minimal/moderate supervision. A technical background such as computer science, computer engineering, traditional engineering, mathematics, or the core sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, etc.) is preferred as the technical skills will assist with the ISSO tasks. Hands on experience with operating and managing classified and unclassified IT security / Information Assurance solutions in the context of Federal IT Security regulations and guidance such as NIST 800-53, NIST 800-37and FIPS 199 is a plus. Experience in one or more of the following areas is required: understanding of Federal security practices and procedures; knowledge of current security tools; hardware/software security implementations; communication protocols; and encryption techniques/tools. Education and Certifications: BA/BS College degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution. The ideal candidate would also be certified (CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent / relative security certification). Security Clearance: Applicants selected must be U.S. Citizens and will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. A current and active Top Secret security clearance is required for this position. Work Location: The work will be performed in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
